Village Hall
The Village Hall
The Village Hall has been in the village for c. 90 years. It was originally given to the Ex Service Men's Association of Llangarron in 1922 by the late Colonel Owen.
In the early days, its main purpose was as a meeting place for men who had returned from World War I so that they had a venue to meet at, share their War experiences and generally recover from what had been a life-changing experience.
The Village Hall is now used by the village and outside groups for meetings and a range of activities. The main user group is the Llangarron Short Mat Bowls Club. Other events include the Harvest Supper and Quiz Nights. The hall is also used for Parish Council monthly meetings.
Although the hall has not significantly changed since it was erected, it was re-decorated externally in 2005 and made accessible for disabled users with the installation of a ramp into the main entrance and the conversion of the WC's to create disabled and standard facilities.
In 2010 the layout of the kitchen was altered and a hatch installed in place of the original kitchen door which now goes into the lobby area. Also, the kitchen floor was replaced, the units upgraded and a storage area for tables created in the lobby area. The hall was redecorated throughout in an attractive pale green and cream colour scheme and new curtains fitted.
The Hall is situated on the outskirts of the village on Langstone Lane, Llangarron, Ross-on-Wye, HR9 6NZ
